The Extraction

If your right eye serves as a trap to ensnare you or is an occasion for you to stumble and sin, pluck it out and throw it away. It is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be cast into hell (Gehenna).  And if your right hand serves as a trap to ensnare you or is an occasion for you to stumble and sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better that you lose one of your members than that your entire body should be cast into hell (Gehenna).
(Matthew 5:29-30, AMP)

Have you ever had to get a wisdom tooth pulled? I have.  It caused me so much pain – my whole jaw ached. I tried to tolerate it but it became unbearable and needed to be removed.  Sometimes in life we go around tolerating an aching nagging pain that we know needs to be removed. Just like an achy tooth,  many of us  deal with deeper pains and thorns in our sides that comes from many origins : neglect, pride, addictions, lusts,  sickness of spirit-anything that is tormenting our souls.

Right now, I want you to think about those things that have caused you deep pain that you just couldn’t let go of. What bitterness were you holding on to? What unforgiveness are you walking in that’s piercing your side? What kind of depression or oppression is saddle bagging your spirit right now? The thing about those pains is that it makes you focus all your energy on it. You can’t see past it. All of your energy is focused and localized there. Deliverance can only come when we look past that pain and surrender it to God allowing God to extract all the mess.

God desires us to walk in the fullness of what He created us for; not broke down, doubled over and ensnared by the things that His Son came to set us free from. Selfishness? It has to come out. Envy and Strife? It needs to be removed.  Greed? No more room for it. Deception and Lies? Way past its expiration date. Time to get rid of everything that propels you in the opposite direction of Galatians 5:22-23 which is the precious fruit of the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 7:17 says that every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. The solution is found in v. 19: Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. Why hold on to the bad fruit? The word says in v.20 that you will know them by their fruit. I want you to see me; plump and ripe with the fruit of the Holy Spirit and whole.

Anything that hinders your walk with God or your divine assignment has to be plucked from your vine. Jesus commands us (Matt 5:29-30) to “tear out” and “throw away” that bad stuff. This action requires an immediate response, diligence and constant examination of the heart to see the painful damage of just what you’ve been thinking you can carry around,  but really just needs to be extracted. Meditating on God’s word can help shape your perspective and help you gain the necessary tools you need for a successful extraction and start to live an empowered and full life given to us by the Lord. Stop letting that bad fruit define you. Get ready for an extraction! ~LPG

Let’s Pray: Father God, I humbly submit all the unnecessary things I have been trying to carry around that caused me so much pain. I am esteemed in your sight. Examine my heart and expose the damage. Extract the bad and help me walk in your indwelling power.  Make me over Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
